Two weeks ago Audrey and I started working on preschool at home. She's shown so much interest in wanting to learn and I feel like she was really ready to be challenged a bit. Playing with princesses all day isn't very difficult :) I found a wonderful blog that you can view
here that I get our weekly or biweekly lessons from. She gives you a theme for each week, a list of library books for that theme, poems, songs and activities to do along with a shape, color and number to learn. We're starting slow and I'm being flexible with our schedule. The first week we did school Mon, Wed and Fri for about 45 minutes while E napped and then the next week we only squeezed in a little over an hour for the whole week. It was Labor Day and our week was just off. But I am aware things will come up and we'll adjust our time accordingly. And as many have told me, "It's ok! She's only 3!" Very true. But I do want to be diligent in working with her. We've already had so much fun together and I look forward to our time ahead! Below are a few things she's learned so far...
Here's her little bulletin board I made for her. The frame is from a picture that had been hanging over our bed that I didn't like anymore. I wrapped a thick piece of cardboard with fabric and done!

My mom (Nanny) sent her a big box full of school supplies and her favorite thing by far were the two pairs of scissors. She didn't waste any time and cut up several pieces of construction paper

Using the paint program on the Galaxy Tab, I did the top A then I made 3 dots for her to connect to make the bottom A. She did it all on her own!

After taking a shower one day, I came downstairs to see what she had been up to and she proudly showed me this. She had drawn two huge A's!
We found some A's on a cereal box and circled them

We attempted homemade play dough but it was unsuccessful. We'll just stick to the real stuff.
We even gave math a try
Adding with buttons. And one of the glories of doing school at home, you get to stay in your jammies!
The red ones apparently weren't pretty enough so we had to switch to gold and pink ones :)
Steve's mom (Gramma) gave Audrey a princess letter workbook, pencils and a lunch box to keep her supplies in. Here's her first attempt at tracing letters.
